The scientific name of this palm is Licuala grandis. This ornamental palm is widely grown in home gardens. The attractive stunning dark green ruffled leaves are the special feature of this palm. The leaves are circular in 20-
diameter and stalks of leaves are short and greenish. This is a slow growing
palm. Though it can grow up to 10
feet high, usually it grows up to 5 feet. It might have 15 to
20 leaves when it is 4 feet high.
This palm is mostly suitable for outdoor garden. It can be grown in indoor also. It grows best in partial shady areas. The areas having direct sun light and wind must be avoided for planting. Regular watering is essential in summer. Excessive watering in periods other than summer causes abnormal growing and the palms become unattractive.
